How good it HIIT for your health?

What is HIIT?

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is the most effective and time-saving way to exercise.

You can get your workout done during the lunch break and feel proud of yourself for the rest of your day. 

HIIT consists of short but intense periods of workout between 15 to 45 seconds followed by recovery periods. This can include sprinting, bodyweight exercises, biking.

Start with 10 minutes and build up to 45 minutes.

Are you curious about the impact on your metabolism?

Your metabolic rate will be higher for hours after the exercise so you will be burning calories even if you are sitting in the office the whole day.

Do you need to have a protein shake or banana to replenish the energy after the exercise?

If you have optimal weight, you are athletic and you exercise daily, it would be good to replenish the glycogen stores (energy stores of sugar in our muscle and liver) so that you are ready for your next workout.

If you are trying to lose weight, you have more than enough energy stores in the form of fat and you have to choose carefully what you eat after the workout so that you don’t gain more weight.

You will get hungry and you will have sugar cravings after such intense exercise because your body is under stress.

What should you eat? 

Choose low glycemic index food that doesn’t spike insulin and is fewer calories dense. 

Kefir drink with a handful of almonds 

Two spoons of peanut butter with cinnamon and apple slices 

Vegetable frittata 

Green smoothie with avocado
